Delta Hotel Convention Centre

The Winnipeg Delta Hotel is located in the center of the thriving city of Winnipeg, the Delta Hotel offers a warm welcome to its visitors; even Fido is welcome, as the Delta is one of the few pet-friendly hotels in the city. There’s something for everyone at the Delta, whether travelling on business (ok, maybe not Fido, because he wouldn’t appreciate the high speed internet connectivity available in every room), or just taking in the sights, sounds, sports and events Winnipeg has to offer.

The sheer variety in the types of rooms offered means that whether attending a conference, wine tasting, lecture, or any of the other countless functions held year-round at the neighbouring Winnipeg Convention Centre, or doing the rounds of the hundreds of shops, boutiques and galleries of downtown Winnipeg, the one certainty Delta guests can count on is that, when they put their heads down at night, it will be in a beautiful, clean, secure and friendly establishment.

About the Delta Chain of Hotels:

Delta Hotels and Resorts was established in 1962, with a single 62-room hotel in Richmond, British Columbia, but they almost immediately embarked on an aggressive expansion plan. Today, they boast 46 separate facilities, including the largest hotel in Canada, the massive 1,590-room Chelsea Delta in downtown Toronto.

What Makes the Delta Special?

First class facilities, a full range of family-friendly dining options and an unrivalled location are all well and good, and the Winnipeg Delta has all these in abundance, but success in the hotel industry ultimately comes down to service, and good service invariably results when hotel staff are happy in their work. Delta Hotels take pride in being recognized among “The Best 50 Employers in Canada” by Report on Business magazine, nearly every year since the turn of the century. Employees are instilled with the Delta values of honesty, integrity, teamwork and empowerment from day one. As a result, Delta has the lowest average rate of employee turnover in the Canadian hotel industry.

Customer loyalty is also valued at the Delta, and their appreciation is not just shown with ‘thank you’ letters and complimentary bottles of mineral water for return visitors. Delta Privilege members are guaranteed to be checked in within one minute of arriving at the hotel. If that amazing feat doesn’t happen, the first night of the stay is free. This “One Minute Check-In Guarantee” has been a feature of Delta policy since its inception in 1989.

And About These Facilities

Start with the fully renovated Odyssey Club, Winnipeg Delta’s full service fitness centre, to which all guests have complimentary access. There are no less than two dozen workout machines, from treadmills to rowing machines to elliptical machines and Lifecycle exercise bikes. A whirlpool and sauna help to iron out the kinks, and there are both indoor and outdoor (in season) swimming pools for the whole family to enjoy. Opening hours mean a rejuvenating workout can be had almost any time that suits. The Odyssey Club is open from 5:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., Monday to Friday, and 8:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

Rooms: Choice is Everything

There are no less than seven different types of room on offer at the Delta, each with something special to offer. Standard Delta rooms are situated throughout the hotel and come with either city or courtyard view and a balcony. They measure between 250 and 300 square feet and come with a host of bedding options.

Next come the Premier rooms, roughly the same size, but also featuring Delta sanctuary beds, complimentary wi-fi access (a small charge applies in standard rooms), and two phones—one of which is cordless. Business travellers will appreciate the Signature Club rooms which offer private key access to their floors, complimentary deluxe continental breakfast each morning and hors doeuvres in the evening, as well as an in-room business desk and chair, separate sitting area and complimentary local phone calls.

Moving up to the suites, Delta’s choice and variety continues unabated.

There are Junior suites, one-bedroom Jacuzzi suites, Family suites, the Manitoba suite and, like any great hotel, the Presidential suite.

Up to 950 square feet of luxurious accommodation is available, and amenities and thoughtful extras abound.

By the way, we weren’t kidding about Fido being welcome at the Winnipeg Delta. Up to two pets (dogs or cats under 50 pounds weight) can stay in the room. There is a per stay charge for pets, and certain terms and conditions apply, but for those that don’t like the thoughts of leaving the family pet behind, now they don’t have to!

Hotel Dining: What’s Your Pleasure?

The Blaze Bistro is Delta’s way of adding what they like to call “prairie warmth” to guests’ buffet breakfasts, special lunches or high class evening meals. Casual enough for the whole family, yet classy enough to entertain important clients, Blaze offers superb dining and an extensive wine list. Then there’s the Elephant and Castle Pub and Restaurant, open from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. daily. Styled on the traditional English pub, the menu features traditional British cuisine and a host of varied menus. Finally, the Urban Bean is for people on the go.

It’s a combination takeaway coffee shop, deli, gift shop and computer kiosk, all rolled into one. Of course, if you’d rather just stay tucked up in bed, Delta offer 24-hour rooms service, including breakfast starting at 6 a.m., and a full dinner right up to 11 p.m. After that, there’s a late-night menu running right through to 6 a.m. again.
